LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Welcome back Eagle Family!

The sights and sounds of a new academic year are all around us and I am thrilled to welcome

our faculty, staff, coaches, and especially, our student-athletes back to campus for what is sure

to be another eventful 10 months at 4500 Memorial Drive.

And what a launch! We have already experienced the rush of a fourth consecutive football win

over Strake Jesuit in front of nearly 10,000 at NRG Stadium, the NFL home of the Houston

Texans. The vibrant tailgating scene leading into the latest in a series of last second victories

against a traditional rival all figures to last long of the memories of us all.

Our next state championship will mark the 100th in the tradition rich history of St. Thomas

athletics. But regardless of the results in the standings and on the scoreboards, the integrity of our school continues to be

reflected in our athletic programs, our student-athletes a proven steady example that results on the fields and courts, on the

track and the mat, are completely compatible with our uncompromised expectations in the classroom.

Since its founding in 1900, St. Thomas has always focused on being a leader in education. Our school doesn’t simply focus

on equipping students for a successful career through the lessons our faculty prepare for them. STH also inspires students to

test themselves in a wide variety of extracurricular challenges to learn essential characteristics so essential in life ... establishing

goals, striving for accomplishment, absorbing inevitable setbacks and persevering forward while building confidence and

stamina, qualities that prove so useful long after the games are over.

I invite everyone in the extended St. Thomas community to join us in sharing and celebrating these next Eagle efforts. Your

support is never taken for granted!

There is great excitement for the growth on campus and I encourage you to explore the pages of this magazine to discover

how our coaches and student-athletes continue to make us all Eagle proud.

Mark your calendars now for the Reunion Rooftop Tailgate on October 10 when we host for the first time fellow Basilian St. Michael’s

College School from Toronto in a continuation of the Basil Bowl series ... and later Homecoming weekend October 23-24.

We hope to see you at a game, a tailgate or an Alumni Association event soon!

Eagle Fight Never Dies!
